Jazz on Boise Area Radio

If you’re looking to find jazz on the radio in the Boise area, two options are Boise State Public Radio (BSPR) and the community station Radio Boise.

BSPR

On Saturday nights, KBSU (90.3 FM) has a few hours of jazz.

  • 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Jazz Night in America, hosted by Christian McBride

  • 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., The Jazz Mission, with the Boise Jazz Society’s own Sandon Mayhew

  • 10:00 to 11:00 p.m., Jazz and the American Spirit, with Jeff Rupert

KBSU also has a station dedicated to jazz—PubJazz. It airs jazz 24 hours a day, seven days a week on KBSU-FM HD2 (90.3 FM-HD). You need an HD radio to listen to PubJazz, but you can stream it at any time from the BSPR website.

The Jazz Mission and Jazz and the American Spirit are also on this HD station on Sundays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., respectfully.

In McCall and parts of Idaho's west central mountains, PubJazz can be heard on KBSK at 89.9 FM.

  • "Jazz: Beyond the Sky," with Jazz Society subscriber John McCarthy, airs Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
